Global Pittsburgh Series, 2025 -

Description

What does the history of the world look like when told from the perspective of a single city? Conversely, what does the history of our city reveal when examined from a world-historical perspective? In this series, we explore the historical trajectories and intermingled processes that converge here in Pittsburgh. From comparative discussions like the Roundtable on Industrial Heritage in Pittsburgh and Japan, to the role of the fort city in the American Revolution, we focus on the rich history, heritage, and culture of Pittsburgh.  Our contribution starts with talks and roundtable discussions, but extends into undergraduate and graduate classes as we support our faculty and students in exploring the extraordinarily rich archival sources of a Pittsburgh that is both local and global.
